Socialudo hosts a Serious Megagame
Building on their successful ‘HopeTown’ project, Socialudo the social enterprise hosted a 40 player ‘serious megagame’ event at the Iris Murdoch Building at Stirling University.
Jim Wallman was delighted to be invited to play in the game, especially so as Stone Paper Scissors was involved in working with the Socialudo team in developing the first version of the game back in 2017, which resulted in published research in the Social Inclusion journal.
With experience gained through a number of projects related to policy in the arena of housing and ageing as well a developing skills in game design, Vikki McCall and Professor Alasdair Rutherford have taken HopeTown and grown it into a smoothly delivered, accessible interactive serious game.
The version run on 19 October 2024 was the largest yet attempted, with multiple teams representing the community, developers, service provider and policy makers. Attendees came from a wide and diverse group of people, from academic social scientists, students, writers, activists, policy specialists, game designers, and representatives of the older community.
It was an outstanding success and a brilliant showcase of the skills and expertise Socialudo bring to their serious games. If you get an opportunity to sample one of their games, jump at the chance
